Might be interested, too soon to tell. How long are you thinking that trail will take Montrose to Moab?

BTW I am thinking of coming to Wyoming in August for the solar eclipse on the 21st...which also happens to be my birthday (just a coincidence I'm sure).

The info I have looked at says says it can be run in 2 days but I would like to give it 3 days and take it a little slower to make it more enjoyable. I guess it would also depend on trail condition and what kind of country you were in. Tabby's Trooper is completely stock so that could slow things a little although what I saw in Co. she is a good driver. Dave

Since the VX guys usually have a strong presence at ZuZoo, I posted about Moab 2017 on the VX board a couple of days ago and no one has responded. It is very dead over there these days, are they all on facebook now?

I was mostly just curious if they are congregating at the Apache Motel again this year. I haven't decided what I am doing for lodging. I might try camping again if I am by myself. There are some nice tent sites at Canyonlands campground that are off in a grove of trees, you drive across (through) Pack Creek to get to them. Other than some road noise (it is practically downtown) it is very nice, with shade and sheltered from the wind that can sometimes kick up pretty strong in Moab.

Camping at Canyon Lands RV is reasonable for Moab at least I think a camp spot was $35.00 but they do have cabins for $85 a day and are set up for multiple people. It may be too late for that the host said they fill up fast. If my grand daughter goes we will definitely be staying at CL RV she sleeps in her Trooper so we will just have one tent. Dave

I've stayed at Archview resort a couple times. It's a campground on the north end of town. I just got a tent site, but they have some basic cabins for about $60 a night if I recall, but they get reserved quite a bit in advance.

Archview is 10 miles from town, we stayed there one year. It is a decent enough RV park, but horribly exposed to the wind, and the trucks go by at speed on the highway all night.

I'll be down there 24-27 with some friends, most likely renting a VRBO property. I need to figure out which incarnation of my truck will be coming along.

I'm pretty sure the Apache is the main hub again. I'm personally not a big fan of the Apache... but Milts is very close-by! :D

We'll be in Moab the 14th-20th and splitting a house with Jerry, Lizette, & Scott. I haven't spoken to anyone else, although I assume the usual gang will be attending.

Yeah, the Apache is...adequate is about all I can say. But it probably is the cheapest motel in town these days, so you can't expect much.

Dave,
Kevin and I were looking at doing Rimrocker this year too so we would love to take that route with you and Tabby. We plan to be in Moab May 13th-21st so I think we would want to head out on from Denver on May 9th because it is 6-7 hours from Denver to Montrose, we could meet you in Gunnison or Montrose and then drive some of the trail and camp, let me know your thoughts on this. You have my cell if you number if you want to call and to discuss the details.

I will send you an email with my trails.kmz I have a few options for that trail in it, I could not fin the full rimrocker trail route do you have it?

I do not see how to attach a file here, if anyone knows there is a way to attach kmz files please let me know.

A Toyota friend of mine did the Rimrocker Trail for trailsoffroad. The guide includes a complete .gpx file track for the entire route, start to finish.

Many of the waypoints are incomplete (meaning, they don't include three photos of each waypoint) but the GPS coordinates are there, as well as a description. At 160 miles in length, this was obviously a huge undertaking!
