East Tennessee/East Kentucky

It has been a few years since I've been to Harlan/Black Mountain, Daniel Boone NF, Windrock, and Golden Mountain.

I have great trail riding memories from these areas with my family and friends. I would really like to see these trails written and published to trailsoffroad.com, where I've been writing Colorado trail guides this year. So, if you live in eastern KY or eastern TN, I want to invite you to check out the site and consider joining as a contributor to write guides on the area's 4WD trails.

Trails Offroad is a new resource for the 4WD community; it's much more than just an icon on the map with a generic description. Trail guides on trailsoffroad.com are comprehensive, first-hand route descriptions, GPS tracks, photos, videos, and area details produced by local 4x4 enthusiasts.

The site started in 2015, and grew quickly in the western states. Now in a dozen states, and New Brunswick, Canada, the site has almost 700 trails completed. North Carolina is the latest addition, with Shaggydoink working the Uwharrie/Badin Lake Recreation Area trails.

Here's an example:

If this looks interesting to you, contact me or Shaggy here on the Planet. We'd love to help you join the trail crew.

Hey, Lorenzo, thanks.

If you and some of your club buddies are interested, check out the site and read about joining as a contributor. The gist is really that "local" writers produce the guides, as the expectation is that they get updated by the originating writer, two or more times a year. If your club goes to Harlan twice/three times a year, I think that would be quite sufficient, particularly if there were two, three, or four of you interested in writing trail guides as a "crew" (there are dozens of trails at Harlan/Black Mountain, based on my memory from being there almost 10 years ago).

Also, consider local NC trails--talk to Jonathan at the Uwharrie event in a couple of weeks. There are several pay-access OHV areas, plus the Pisgah NF. Plenty of trails for numerous contributors/writers.

In fact, anyone interested from any other states, check out the site: trailsoffroad.com. The goal is to write and maintain trail guides in all 50 states (and Canada) on an estimated 2,000 trails. Eastern and Midwestern states are wide open.

The Trails Offroad LLC business strategy is pretty simple--build the site (add and update more trails), build the community of online users, and generate revenues from sponsors and advertisers to pay contributors for original trail submissions and updates.

Tracy, I was up in Red River Gorge last week. There were forest fires burning. Bad news, they need rain there. I was surprised how brown KY was in general this year. We traveled all over the state thanksgiving week. No wheeling though we did stay at 3 different state park lodges and one national park lodge while there.
These links have write-ups and pics of most anything you ever will do on a 2.6 Isuzu. Engine, brakes, suspension, interior, you name it! Enjoy!

A step closer!

A Montero guy in Georgia, James, joined trailsoffroad.com this month and has produced two trail guides already.

FS Road 28D, Dahlonega GA

Nimblewill Gap, Dahlonega GA

You'll be prompted to register (free) after five-to-ten seconds on the site.

Check the "Trip Reports" at the bottom of each page; if you run these trails, you can write your own trip report and submit your own photos and video.

If this appeals to you, consider "Joining the Crew" to write guides for trails near you. We have almost 100 writers in 15 states and Canada, and have published over 700 original trail guides.
