I was hoping somebody would rent the trailer behind the Apache...that grassy area in front of the trailer would be a great congregating area. Ldub was going to but backed out for some reason.

If it is still available when I get to the Motel I will rent it and we can all hang out back there and maybe not piss off all the others in the Motel this year. :)

I will try and call her later or tomorrow, I am kind of afraid of the trailer, I hope it is not worse than their rooms which are not great. If it is available and they will let me switch from my room I will get it.

The Trailer is booked through the 27th so no dice on getting that. I guess we will just have to try and use our inside voices when we are all hanging out in the evenings, or make friends with the trailer people and sit back in the open area in the back. :)

Ah well, staying up until the wee hours is for the young whippersnappers...unless I know I can sleep in the next morning, but generally I want to get on the trail before 10!.

And that trailer yard has neighbors, too.

I will be camping at Kens lake with our local 4 X 4 club from Sheridan, Wy. The only fly in this ointment is that they won't be there till the 18th and I plan on being in Moab the 13th. Dave

Some of us are planning to meet in Denver or Grand Junction and do a mild trail on the way to Moab on Saturday morning. (Denver to GJ takes about 4 hours)
Option A (trail rating 3) - From GJ take Sheep Creek to Gateway Rd. (2-3 hours) along part of La Sal loop Rd., FR 4636 and Sand Flats in to Moab. (3 hours) Approximately 5-6 hours from GJ to Moab
http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=393
Option B (trail rating 2) - From GJ take 141 to Gateway Rd. (1 hour) along part of La Sal loop Rd., FR 4636 and Sand Flats in to Moab (3 hours) Approximately 4 hours from GJ to Moab
http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=356

For those wanting to meet us and take one of these options which one do you prefer? I am open and good with either one, both trails can be done in stock 4x4s.

I'm still thinking Option B...and by the time I get to the La Sal loop road I may just be in the mood to Get There and stick with pavement on in to town, we shall see.

10 hours might be too long of a day for the first day, so B might be the best, it has great scenery, easy road and more relaxing than the highway and is only 2 hours longer than taking I-70.

Just talked to the Forest Service out there, the Gateway > Castleton road is open (no winter snow blocking), but "slippery as heck" right now because it is raining. But Wednesday-Saturday will be dry so it should be fine.

So we are getting close to Go Time:

1) Who is looking to convoy from Denver Saturday morning? We will be having breakfast at the Dennys at 9930 W. 49th Ave. Wheatridge, CO 80033 at about 7:30 AM...anybody want to join up there? I believe VX guy Tyler will be there to join us.

2) Where do we want to meet in Grand Junction? I suggest the McDonalds at Peach Tree Center, 3219 Business I-70 , Clifton, CO 81520. It is just before the turnoff to highway 141. But I am open to suggestions too.

That sounds like a plan we will meet you at the Denny's west of Denver, I am not sure anyone is meeting us in GJ but we can stop at the McDonalds and have lunch in the parking lot, if anyone wants to join us they can just meet us there.
If we leave the Denny's at 8:00-8:30 we should be in GJ around 12:00-12:30, should we plan to leave GJ at 1:00pm?

Hello,

Well I'm all packed, and leaving Prosser, WA in the morning. It'll take me two days to get there, so I'll be pulling into the Slickrock Campground Wednesday between noon and 3pm, on 05/18/16. I'll be staying in Moab, thru the 23rd, and then heading to the grand canyon. Look's like I'll miss Joe, and James this year. Bummer, I miss you guys!
