Anyone in Central Florida?

Postby TomSuddard » Mon Feb 06, 2012 2:08 pm

As the topic states, I'm curious if there are any other Isuzu people in Central Florida. Would anyone be interested in getting a group together to go wheeling?

I know this threads a few months old but for the record I'm in Central Florida, Deltona to be exact in Volusia county. There's an old K-Mart in Orange City, FL and other car groups have their get together's there. It's just a couple of minutes off of I-4 and lots of food and drink places on the boulevard too.

Huh, so there are a few people in Fla!

I live in Deland, but I'm in Starke every few weeks for work (we test cars at The FIRM).

Oh, cool! We should go wheeling sometime. The Matanzas Jeep club (a little far from you, but whatever) has no problems with Troopers tagging along. I just told them it's like a better XJ.

The kind that does not require brain power to successfully navigate. A good ole southern boys paradise. Mud to be exact. Bring beer.

Late reply as well to this post. I live in the Sanford area. Just north and east of Orlando. The only wheeling is mud or trail riding, pretty easy with some water crossing sometimes. 5a/Scottsmoor or Ocala are fun to ride around in.

I'm here in Mt. Dora. Will be heading over to New Symrna beach this coming Sunday. Will be taking the Trooper out on the beach for some serious relaxation. Message me if you guys would like to tag along.

We could prob try a Ocala Forest trail ride. I haven't rode around out there in forever. Last time went I tagged along on a 4-wheeler so I don't know the are well. Might be a fun trip to go get lost in the woods. From the Forestry website it says there are 80ish miles of OHV trails.

What you Floridians call "mud" just might be what we call "wet sand". I grew up in that area, and it was nothing like the mud up here in TN.

We have some mud holes in the area that appear to be a mixture of clay/peanut butter and water. They have no bottoms. I tend to stay out of those and water the most I can. Ocala is usually a very easy dry trail ride. There are some watery areas that have some good peat soil/mud holes. Even 5a (Scottsmore) for the most part is wet sand. If you get off the beaten trail there are some trails that stay wet and have a lot of vegetation growing on them that makes them very gooey and sticky.
