Silverton CO. 2017 - 8/19-8/25

Postby Christine » Fri Feb 10, 2017 2:18 am

Last year was great and I am glad some of the Isuzu crew came to Silverton with us for some epic scenery and trails in this amazing region. If you are interested in a 4x4 destination that is It is different than Moab and also has more trails than you can do in a week, some trails are very challenging and some just beautiful on a grand scale. We booked a house again this year because the hotels are limited and either very expensive or old and expensive, but some are still a decent price for the area.

There is also primitive camping nearby but you need to look around or check with the forest service for info on camping. I know Dave (outofrshell) camped in a nice spot last year and I sure he would tell you about it. The town is very small so anywhere you lodge in town is a 5 min walk to Green Street (Main Street)
I also just found out the other day that Otters were introduced back to Colorado in 1976 and 1991 there are now reported populations of Otters in Colorado and in areas I love to go. When I am in Silverton this year I am going to try and see them in the wild. https://picahudsonia.com/tag/colorado-p ... -wildlife/

DId you know the solar eclipse is happening August 21st? I have never seen one in totality, and the track will pass through Wyoming so you'll probably have a pretty good look at a partial eclipse there. I am thinking of going to Wyoming to see the total eclipse, might be my only chance.

Cool I will be sure to get some video of it if we can see it up there, at that altitude it might be even better on more clear. Thanks for the info.
