Tachometer

Postby thumper » Sat Apr 15, 2017 1:54 pm

I am need to know what wire on the top of distributor of 95 Isuzu Pickup 2.3 L to splice into and install a tachometer. There are two sets of wires both leading into the distributor side of the coil pack. Does anyone know which set I will splice into, the first set facing the front of the truck or second set facing the firewall? Any advice would be highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

So I tried the black wire with yellow stripe that comes from the coil and leads to the distributor but that didn't work! Is it possible to fry my coil by splicing into the other three (separately) of course?

I guess no one on this site knows, thanks allot, I'll find another site.

I don't think you'll even come close to finding a better, more helpful site for the truck you have.

Isn't it pre-wired for a tach? I'm surprised that there's a need to splice anything directly to the distributor.

I imagine for the factory but I am unsure of where the wires are. I picked this tach up for a decent price, mounted nicely on my dash and looks good. As I was reading some other posts yesterday one person said they spliced into the black wire with yellow stripe, I tried that one to no avail. Can I fry my coil trying the other three by chance?

Find out what side of you coil is the 12V power. Put the key in run to check. The other side is the ground trigger. This is where your tach connects.

This splice is to connect my hand held tach. I'm partially color blind, so I'm not sure if that wire is blue or purple.

Thank you I appreciate it. I tested again and found the negative but I have to re-do the positive into the ignition.
