Which Accumulator Piston Cover?

Postby hometheaterman » Fri Apr 21, 2017 1:39 am

I have a 96 Trooper S with the automatic transmission. I don't think the accumulator piston cover is leaking, but since it's such a common area I'm thinking that maybe I should go ahead and replace it while I'm doing this other stuff. From what I'm reading there are two styles. Without pulling it out, is there a way to tell which style I need? I hate to tear it down and then leave it apart while I wait a week or two on parts.

Also, when you guys change this, is the easiest way to pull the front shaft out so that you can have room? Or do you do it without pulling anything?

There is only only one 3-4 accumulator piston cover available. If yours is not leaking my advice is "if it ain't broke don't fix it" because it is not as easy to replace as it may appear.
