The winter mode button will not stay depressed or light up. The power button does.

The buttons don't stay depressed, at least mine don't. Push winter from a stop, dash lights up and trans starts off in 3rd. It will then turn off. You need to push button at every stop to use it. Performance mode stays on till you press button again or shut off motor.

So after all was said and done I had it towed out to the trans shop. The one that the gentleman offered to look at it no charge . When I got there we spoke for a bit and he said he's very familiar with the trans as he also has a trooper. Left it there and a few days later I got a call . He said it needed a rebuild so it's $1,500. With a 1 year warranty .

I felt comfortable with the guy so gave the go ahead.

Thanks for all the input and help guys
