WOW!!! I'm completely floored guys! I had no idea that I was even being considered for this recognition. It is a humbling experience. I have enjoyed restoring this Trooper over the past few years. She was literally saved from the junkyard. Fortunately she had one owner for most of her life in California before I bought her on Ebay from a mechanic in Maine. After a nail biting experience of having this thing towed down to Key West, FL, I started working on her right away. New stock 225 series tires per the 1986 Isuzu recommendation. I then had the rims blasted and powder coated. I had a local shop redo the interior. The door panels and carpet were steam cleaned. The steam cleaner water looked like coffee and had to be changed 3x! I put in an under dash stereo pod and rewired the stereo with new speakers and wire. Sadly the 4" speakers are still weak. I replaced the dash lights and overhead lights with LEDs. New front bumper and bumper ends. New bulbs all around on the exterior. New battery. I blew the engine after 500 miles. Something failed inside the rebuilt engine and it tore itself up. A rebuilt engine was then put in... again! I had the transmission rebuilt as the synchros from 1-2 and 2-3 were shot. New hard parts on 2nd and 3rd gear. I yanked the compressor and all A/C parts as that is a bridge too far. I had a hell of a time putting in a new starter... wish that they put one of those in when the engine was rebuilt. Oh well lesson learned. New shocks. New caliper and pads on pass right. Full sanding/filler and repaint in a Chrysler color, 1989 Jeep "Colorado Red". New windshield, Weathertech floormats, removed and washed all seat belts... nasty water for 3 cycles then magically there were clean again. Mobil 1 10W30 at every change. Blackstone labs oil analysis every change since last rebuild. Antique plate as of this year.

I'm proud of my ride. It has been costly, bloody and frustrating at times. I don't drive it every day in the summer... too damned hot. However, when I do drive it I get comments or people just come up and start talking about it. I had some great memories in a Gen 1 Trooper years and years ago. That's why people do things like this. I have no memories or connection to a 1970 GTO or 1966 Vette. My memories were partially built by Joe Isuzu and a burgundy Gen 1 that was fun to the max. This is a show truck that could probably go back to off-roading with little effort. Not a lot of trails here in Key West, so I'm comfortable cruising with my son in the backseat.

Again, thanks for the votes everyone. Happy 4th!

Scuddog :D

Coulda stayed in the brand with "Spectra Red" but that's nitpickin' That's a very very nice rig you've got there.

Thanks. I had an '88 Wrangler back in the day. I flipped it and had the hood replaced. The low rent shop screwed up and painted the hood "Colorado Red" instead of the red for 1988. The hood looked amazing but didn't match the rest of the Jeep. Oh well... that's how it all started. Nice deep red sort of like hot candle wax when it is clean and the light is right.
