I thought you kept misspelling "driving" untill I saw the videos. I'd be wearing a little more than my boxers if I was doing that!

Yes, diving not driving. These people are nuts. The article above mirrors the original report I saw on Fox but there is also a you-tube vid of a woman in a bikini diving. She didn't go from very high, not like the guy that jumped from the 3rd story.

The mayor went on TV to tell everyone not to do it, it was dangerous. Duh...

C'mon...

Mayor is being a killjoy. People live sheltered lives, scared of everything these days, I find it refreshing to see people out having fun instead of just whining about it all. Could someone get hurt? Sure they could, but nothing that's very fun is perfectly safe.

I remember as a kid we used to do this, not off buildings, but natural cliffs and gulleys and such. There was this one chute in the mountains nearby that would collect a lot of snow and went on for 2-3 miles up to ridge line. We used to hike up then sled down it, when that got boring we would find places to jump from into the bottom of it. We did some jumps from at least 40ft. Trouble is from that height, when you land you go in at least up to your chest, and then you can't move your lower body at all, it literally feels like it's in concrete. So we would have to dig each other out after each jump.

Good times.

So is driving, eating fast food, contact sports, soccer, skiing, motorcycling, off-roading, swimming, bathtubs, skydiving, roofing, chainsaws, baseball bats, ballroom dancing, reciprocating saws and jilted women.

Is the mayor going to tell everyone to stop all that too?

Some people are such wussies nowadays.

I think it is more than being a Killjoy. It is a matter of reading the snow. Jumping into soft powder snow is no problem but the wet heavy stuff can put a hurt on you.

I remember skiing out west and was wondering why I was the only person on a trail as I thought the conditions were good. When I got partially down the trail, I found out why. The trail required that you take a jump, which was no problem in fresh powder, but was not advisable when the snow was old and packed. Luckily, I found a narrow path down.

I guess some people get a thrill of jumping in snow while others get their thrill from driving in snow.
