Cowboy fun!

Postby squatch » Sun Jan 26, 2014 2:37 am

Too cold to work in the garage so my son and I cleaned a couple of pistols we have been neglecting. Once I got started I figured I would wax my Henrys with Johnson paste wax. I've read it keeps down the fingerprints and such. I'm real happy with the results.
Top to bottom.
Henry Big boy 44mag
Henry Golden boy 22lr
Ruger Super Blackhawk 44mag SS with 10.5" barrel. It's propped up with my old "Uncle Henry" pocket knife of course! :D
My father's Case sheath knife. I've been carrying this camping since the early '70s.

Nice collection and nice elbow grease results. These days it is too bad that in most places you couldn't hang a pretty collection like that on the wall, for fear of the liability if someone stole them.

Thanks Tad. I'm less concerned about liability then them actually just walking and me no longer having them. Henry actually makes locking display cabinets for them that can be bolted to the wall. But yeah they live in the Safe! Good reason to take pics so I can ogle too!

Now I need a brass Henry 30-30 and a 45-70!

Did you have those henrys or did you fall in love and buy them after the GWNF trip?

Purdy! I had a Winchester 1892 with the octagon barrel my father-in-law had given me that I was about to restore when I stupidly left with the wife when we split up. :( My stuff's mostly 30's military but I did like that Winchester!

Actually Hack and I were discussing firearms on his porch one evening. I told him that I had always wanted a 44 mag carbine to go with my Blackhawk. He mentioned Henry as he had recently acquired his 22. I told him that I hadn't even heard of them in ages and thought they only made 22s. He told me they were now making the Big Boys. Within a few days I was informed that he had just bought one. So After trying it out both locally here and at GW I bought my own. With the stupid and illegal changes in the laws going into effect here last year I decided I had better get the things I had been putting off buying for some time. So I did. So to answer your question YES I fell in love with Hack's Henry at GW and bought my own.

Nice! :D Feel free to post up pics of your levers and single actions folks. Good stuff. There is a reason this stuff is still around 100+ years after it was supposedly rendered obsolete. Because those who actually shoot like them!

I picked up this little can perforator for my 11 yo last Christmas. It's going rabbit hunting today. Solid little gun, true from the box.

We just use free TV on which the Rifleman plays, so of course we had to get the large loop.

Ru Zu, I like it!

Speaking of like it. Hack and myself along with BIL shot the 45/70 today. The best way to express it is to say YEE HAW! Big Medicine indeed!

The 44 Big Boy is quite the performer. Mario was kind enough to let me run a few rounds through his at URE this year. Smooth action, nice trigger, great peep sights, and really a beautiful rifle. Hard to find something more fun than hanging out on the rifle and pistol range with guys that can talk guns and Isuzus. Slice of heaven
