Flat link

Postby outofrshell » Thu Nov 12, 2015 2:17 am

I had some time to make a flat link for my winch line, I used 2 pieces of 6061 Al. 1" X 2" bolted together with socket head 5/16 bolts (now before you panic the bolts do nothing but hold the 2 halves) this gave me a 2" X 2" bar to work with. The winch line is pinned to the bar using the 1/2" pin from the hook (keeping it simple) this allows the link or the hook to be swapped with out looking for the pin. The clevis end is made for a 3/4" clevis. Dave

Brilliant.

Not knowing anything about metals, but after doing a quick search of 6061 Al, seems like it's plenty strong enough. :D A quick google "flat link" search showed me some examples and now I need one. :santa:

Thanks

I like how it allows for options instead of just a hook. Brilliant! I really like how you made it up yourself.
