Hi! Quick question for you guys who have been to the Arrowhead Campground often. I wondered if anyone could tell me what the rules are about firewood. I know this is a big thing in a lot of places lately because of pests. I'd like to bring a little with me but I don't see any clear-cut rules about it. The info on the website just sort of seems to discourage this but doesn't really state a regulation against it. What do you guys normally do for firewood when you're in the campground? I would imagine that the campground itself will likely be picked pretty clean.

AS LONG AS IT IS CLEAN, ,NO ANT,S ,TERMITES, OR SUCH , NO PROB AT ALL . MOST EVERY ONE BRINGS THEIR OWN WOOD , TO EXP TO BUY AT THE TRADING POST, GENERALLY SPEAKING IF YOU GO OUT IN THE WOODS TO GATHER WOOD , YOU CAN TAKE ABOUT ANYTHING YOU WANT , AS LONG AS IT IS ALL READY DOWN, NO CUTTING ANY THING DOWN, BUT YOU CAN CUT UP WHAT IS DOWN. . NO WOOD FOR SALE IN THE CAMP GROUND , ONLY DOWN AT THE TRADING POST , WE MOST ALL WAYS BRING A SMALL TRAILER FULL .

If you should run low on wood don't buy any, there's a peculiar skinny guy staying at Site 12 who will have a chainsaw and I suspect would be happy to use collecting firewood as an excuse to get out onto the trails. ;)

Gunna have to move me to the NOPE column. The rodeo isn't really finished up as I would like. Even thought I drove it to Charlotte a week or 2 ago without any major incident.

Oh, and I'm also going to be at the NASCAR race on Sunday. Family friend works for NASCAR and got us pit passes.

Hey Guys!!..as some of you know Angela and I have been fighting tooth and nail to get our rides ready to hit the trails up there next weekend, and we're almost there, but today we put front brakes on my trooper at her house, and she came home with me to look at, and put our pop-up up, and see what I needed to do to it, for it to make the trip, it was a major disaster!!, we got it up, and the ends slid out, and we both ended up inside on the bumper end at the same time, without the safty jacks under it, I thought we were going down thru the woods!!! Wife was standing in the doorway and she jumped out, fortunately it stayed still and we walked it back down to level, turns out that wasnt the bad part.....
it jerked so hard ,when the bumper hit the ground, and almost all the canvas top let go of its hold on the roof top, uncovering rotted plywood, and of course its drizzling rain and they are calling for another monsoon tonite and tomorrow...AARRGGHH!!!...we tried to reattach the canvas as good as we could to kinda hope to keep the rain out of it...dont have a tarp big enought to cover it with...so..
We might not be camping next week...where are the cabins in relation to the trails? Think any would still be avail?...any info would be great!!///HELP!!...thanks...Tommy

The cabins are about 15-20 minutes from Arrowhead and your half way to Troy in case you need anything from the stores. :D Don't forget to stop by the Outpost to get trail passes ($5 per day unless they've gone up, $30 for the year IIRC).

Has anything been planned yet for Janet? If not, and you would like to donate, get with me at the campsite and I'll figure something out.

Ummm. To set the record straight, this is the cabin we're renting, not the one in the post above. That one is the guest house (this one has 45 levels underground with a secret monorail directly to Arrowwood). They are about a mile down the highway south from the Eldorado Outpost

Here's the link to the cabins. I just checked, some are available:http://www.uwharriecabinrentals.com/Home_Page.html

The storms have passed (fingers crossed), the sun is out and it's time to get ready for Uwharrie. :D

Just a reminder that if anyone cares to par take in Saturdays morning breakfast, I'll have the usual sausage, egg and cheese croissant or bacon, egg and cheese biscuits with some orange juice to start off the day (maybe some french toast like we had last time). :D

Wayne, I was stumped also on what to get Janet, but I asked the wife and she said " A fashion accessory that every women needs". Present has been picked out and hopefully Janet will enjoy it (I'll keep the receipt just in case). A day and a half, time to get some things done...

I hurt my knee skiing and have to visit my orthopedist instead of going to Uwharrie. Wish me luck.

Thanks, Shaggy. Something about old knees and double black diamonds being a bad combination. I am hoping that its nothing serious and that it can be treated with physical therapy. But in the mean time, it hurts when I straighten out my leg.
