Hallowharrie 2014 photos and videos

Postby Ssiggy » Mon Nov 10, 2014 10:22 am

Just a tease. I already posted these on Facebook. Holla if they don't show up. This is not everyone. Van, Joe and a bunch went on a separate run at the time.

Had a great time even though I didn't do much trail riding.
Arrived on Wed and set up camp, and collected wood with Van.
Got up Thurs to start the tomato sauce. Ran Dicky Bell with Van and Mike. Had pasta dinner with the group.
Fri was a slow day spent out the range. Got to shoot Lisa's AR and Joe's 45-70. Sweet!
Ran Dutch John Backwards and collected more firewood on Sat. Thanks Doug and Lisa for the dinner.
Returned home on Sun. Unfortunately didn't get to say goodbye to several because they were on the trails.

Didn't take any pics as Doug was the designated cameraman.

Also want to say thanks to those who came out this weekend. Saw a lot of old faces and met some new ones. I think we had one of the best turn outs this year. It's great having the Isuzu community come out and have a great time!

Ugh, is April really 5 months away? Counting down the days til the Spring meet!

Here are the best pics I took. Bear in mind that I am not a trained professional, but I do try this at home...

Again, thanks to all who made Hallowharrie an outstanding experience for me! It was nearly as good as my 30th Wedding Anniversary last month. Just don't tell my lovely bride.

Beater88 is our pretty capable (though NOT pretty) junkyard refugee with a hodgepodge of parts to make it go: a 2.6 with a 4ZD1 head, automatic trans, '87 10-bolt rear with an old Lock Right 3111, whatever tires we have lying around that hold air, and random salvage parts added as needed to keep it rolling. We're as happy as if we had good sense!

What a great trip, once again. Good to see some old faces and meet some new ones in person finally!
We got as much trail time as we could (barring going it alone of course), ate some good food, traded stories (i.e. lies or slight embellishments  ) and, got about 3 hours of sleep over the weekend. Yeah, it was a good trip.
Only minor damage to my rig, one broken rear bumper end and, one broken rear shock. After the trails and lines I ran, I'm glad it was only those two things....

And a few more...
Unfortunately, I did not get any pics of the Heep that broke an axle trying to climb the left lane on Dickey Bell. My Nephew did get a couple though and I believe he is going to join the Forum and post up his pics too....
What a great trip, just too dang short.....
Wish I could have gotten more of everybody's rigs but, I was busy driving and my kids were the photographers on this trip so, sorry for the biased post.
Mike, that SAS'ed Rodeo of yours has got me itchin' for an SAS for myself.
Looking forward to everybody else's pics and stories now!!!!

He said that it has been at least 5 years. He ended up shearing the mounting eye off of one of his shocks. Luckily Doug had a welder and the skills to make a "temporary" repair so he could finish the weekend.

Great pictures and what a great weekend! My first time, so nice to meet everyone and put names with faces. Also my first Isuzu cupcake, which might be the first thing Isuzu Ive had that didn't need any modification. Highlight of the weekend was hitting the trails with Van in that little mountain goat of a truck he put together. What I thought was trail riding wasn't, and I have a way better understanding of Revo gears and the reason for lockers. An hour or two into it, the best question I could come up with was, "Van, where the hell are we?" Very smart to put us new guys with someone that knows where they are what they are doing. :D Thanks for the ride and the education Van!

Oh, and that beige 91 Trooper was really pretty, but looked a little too much like a parking lot queen. I expect that can be cured though before the next trip down.

I thought that red Rodeo looked familiar. I figured since I hadn't seen him much on here, something must have happened to that big old thing. I think the last time I saw Mikey and that truck, the doors were all off. Mikey taught me the finer points of how to air down tires effectively....in the middle of the hill climb on Daniel...

From what I've seen in many of these videos and pics, the trails at Uwharrie have all gotten much more gnarly since I was there last. Looks like yall had a great time. Can't wait to join the next time.
