My first URE, I'm planning on driving down on Friday from VA. Longest trip for the old girl in over 5 years. In the process of assessing what I have left to fix. Camping or motel-ing it. Not sure which yet.

Carolyn & I will be there. Our usual cabin was booked because of the change in weekends, but we'll be staying in Albemarle. Arriving early Friday, staying until Sunday. My Amigo is back in shape and ready. Carolyn's may just have it's vinyl wrap finished by then, but it'll be there regardless.

Were gonna miss this. :( There is no way I can have my truck ready by then. It's still sitting at my friends garage waiting for new o-rings and some camshaft seals. At the rate he is going I may not have it by Christmas! I really wanted to come down again. Hopefully in the spring!

It's been about 6-7 years since I've been to Uwharrie, and I'm itching to get some 4low therapy in the new rig...

Depending on the weather, I'm considering driving out on Saturday for a shakedown run to see how the rig does out there. Likely just a drive over, wheel for a few hours, drive home type of deal. An earlier run would probably be best so I'd have some daylight afterward in case anything needed attention before the ride home.

Is there a schedule for the trail runs each day, or will it be more on the fly, seat of the pants decisions?

For the past few events that I have attended the trail run plans have formulated somewhat organically based on who wants to wheel at any given time and what their comfort level is in terms of trail difficulty, although there is typically a group of some number running *something* pretty much all day that you could roll with. Hope you can make it out!

Schedule? Schedule? We don't need a stinking schedule.

Shaggy is right, things are "organic" with this group. A few years back, DRaider90 tried to develop a schedule for several Uwharrie events but eventually gave up as it was a bit like trying to heard cats. As I said in the first post, I expect people to go fishing, shooting and socializing in addition to riding the trails. Not to mention, making the "mandatory" equipment repairs on one anothers' trucks. Last trip we even had a group panning for gold! While this may seem to be disorganized, and it is, every one usually has a good time and gets their fill of wheeling. There are only a handful of short trails at Uwharrie, so very few people try to go out on every trail run.

IMHO I think the lack of schedule is a good idea. It promotes socialization as everyone is motivated to move around to see what is going on. A lot of people will be hanging out at Site 27, the big double site. Finding Father Isuzu, Jerry Lemond, in his coveralls is also a good way to find out what people are doing.

That's exactly how it was the other couple times I went 'back in the day'...that's fine with me.

If I can make it, I'll plan to get there fairly early.

I ran into a few Isuzu's out there maybe 3 weeks ago at the Outpost.
Totally random.
One guy's name is Matt and I told him to check out the dates and if it works out, come on out.

I ended up towing a jeep home that day. Long story, but we put out a fire, tried to repair a distributor, tried to pull a jeep up Dutch John with him having only fwd and then NoWD, and met a monkey.
No joke.
If I get up there that weekend, it will be a good campfire story for sure.
Hope to see you guys there but I have a soccer game on Saturday so its gonna be either before or after for sure.
