What do you have to fix after Uwharrie?

Postby Ssiggy » Mon Apr 28, 2014 9:07 am

We had a blast. My wife's '90 Amigo lost a starter on Saturday. Went to Advance Auto Parts in Troy, got one, and she was back in full force. My '99 is another matter though. I dented my gas tank and it pushed up against the pump. all was fine at URE, but on the way home, I had almost not power and it generated CEL codes. Gotta get that dent out. But the BIG story is my front diff locked up, ripped out it's internals, and lost all it's fluid. I climbed Dutch John in 2WD unknowingly. HAHA. Look like it's time for an Aussie Locker.

Yikes,
After hearing that I am embarrassed to say I bent two center support brackets and ripped out two bolts on my running boards.

A match should help push that gas tank back out

for real though, you could probably pressurize it if it isn't too bad...

Luckily didn't break anything, but it's going to take the better part of the morning to get the truck clean again

For once, I had no trail damage. Just had to change the air filter and wash the truck.

Anyone have any info on the Red Trooper that hit a Tree at the Soup bowl by Art Lilly at 3pm Sunday. My daughter was driving my Suzuki Sidekick with the Zuwharrie group and as we were passing by there was a younger guy in what was a clean red Trooper making hot laps around the soup bowl splashing mud up on his truck. As we were driving away back towards arrowhead (running 2- hrs late / about 200 yards down the road past Art's camp) I hard the crash and jokingly said to her " That guy just hit a tree / DOn't be that guy!" It was only later that my friend camping at Art Lilly said that the Trooper guy had hit a tree and in his words totaled the front of the trooper. (Though it may not have been that bad)...

I want to say there was a black Amigo and a few other ZuZu guys still floating around. I'm guessing it may have been the Red Trooper from South Carolina that I was following Friday night. ??? I hope not ~ that truck was super clean. . .

Not sure but stopped by looking to catch up and make sure the guys were all right.

That red trooper belongs to Zoe, Shaggy's daughter, and it is possible that it's totaled. We managed to get a tow bar attached to it and they towed it back to Raleigh. she's OK. The rest of us ralleyed 'round and got everybody and everything packed up on on towards home. Thanks for your concern! The other red Trooper belongs to my brother, Kurt, and it's fine.

The Trooper does indeed belong to my daughter Zoe. Out of respect for her I do not plan on sharing details about the episode, but she is OK and I am already partially done with the repairs - my goal is to get both her and "Lobster Todd" back out on the trails in a couple weeks. I'd like to extend my sincere thanks again to Ssiggy, he was wonderfully supportive in a tough situation, I'll be forever grateful.

Yes indeed, my pretty red trooper got into a bit of a jam when a tree mysteriously appeared in front of us... But It's times like these when you find out who your true friends are. I just wanted to say thank you to everybody for being so supportive of me and Todd making a full recovery. It means a lot to have a community of people behind me. Thank you especially to my dad (shaggy) because he always keeps me grounded! :) I hope to have my baby up and running and I'll be back offroading in no time at all.

I told your dad you were just practicing to race like Joe, which requires lots of experience breaking things.  I also told him that my daughters ruined several Zoos. That is why we give them old trucks!

Seriously, trees have a way of grabbing Troopers especially when the springs are old and the trail has some side camber. Take care. We are all glad you didn't get hurt.

Speaking of trees, the only repair on the list for my wonky, little Trooper is a small bit of fender work, I too managed to hit one coming up the Dickey Bell hill climb... OK, so maybe I hit it two or three times but who's counting? ;)

While I had some concerns about Spencer's Amigo, it made it through the weekend with flying colors! We've got a little bit of exhaust work to do, but that's basically it.

 Ohhh man ~ am I glad to hear she is Ok... Being there with my daughter driving I realize that it just as easily could have been us. It is great that the Isuzu family was there along side to rally and taken care of the situation ~ good work! Guys ~ if there are any parts you guys are missing for the rebuild please don't hesitate to ask. I frequent the 3 major "u wrench it yards" around Richmond Va and while mostly searching for Suzuki parts ~ do trip over cool Isuzu stuff from time to time. I'd be glad to send you anything you are missing for cost or less. I've sourced a few parts for Joe ~ Sold him and Amigo and raced the original 4xcross with him. Sorry to hear of the damage Grateful to hear she is Ok...
