After two polls, and some discussions, this year will be 17-20OCT. In order to facilitate planning for families, we will try and lock it to the weekend before halloween weekend each year. Should be doable, allows families to still participate in local halloween events and still late enough in they year that it should be a bit cooler at night.

Maybe I can sweet talk Eli into either setting up the campground graphic or sending it to me so I can mod as needed:) See complete stolen product below

Thursday, October 17th ~ Sunday, October 2oth.
(with the Main Days being Friday and Saturday)

As always, this IS NOT exclusively an Isuzu event…
We welcome ALL 4-wheel-drive fanatics, no matter what brand of vehicle you happen to drive...
(as long as you can behave yourself, and know how to play well with others! :p )

DIRECTIONS:

Google Maps for the Eldorado Outpost - Located just outside of the trails.

Trail Map:
This map may not be the most up to date, Kodak will probably still be closed in OCT:(

THINGS TO BRING:
You must have a trail pass, an annual pass is $30 or you can $5 per day, trail passes can be obtained at the Outpost.
It can get cold at night, some years, water bottles are frozen in the morning, some years, its 90 degrees, we will see when the time comes.
Bring spare parts, I personally carry:
Alternator, CV joints, driveshaft, hubs, brake lines, 1 bottle of every fluid, fire extinguisher (needed it last year on Dutch John, it saved a truck from burning to the ground), fuel pump, belts, nuts and bolts, tape, JB weld, and of course enough tools/grinder/welder and so on to fix just about anything.

GROUP DINNERS:

DETAILS COMING SOON-Need a volunteer to head this up, I did it for the spring meet, would rather not do it again. Time to pass the torch to someone else. I will say that the fajitas worked well, folks could pick their own toppings and so on. Maybe Tacos this year?

LOL, straight up offroad mods, sliders would be first. But sliders will cost far more than a cheap, functional CB. Basket, that is mostly cosmetic:)
Totally off topic, but for mods, if I were to do it again, in order that I think most important:
CB
Sliders
Manual hubs
Springs/lift of choice
Tires/wheels
locker(s)
Brakes
HD torsion bars
rear lowers
skid plates/bumper etc
winch
intake
electronics on the interior(stereo and so on)

Weather is looking decent as of right now, low 70s, and 50s at night, perfect camping weather.

Its tough for me to schedule time off, I put in for this leave right after the spring meet/discussion. I will come down next friday regardless, but it looks like I am gonna have to pull the plug on bringing the entire family. At least I can get some work done on the bumper/winch while I am off.

So, will you be camping or are you just making this a day trip? Also ( and I know this might be a little early) what time and where is everybody going to meet? The obvious choice would be to meet up at the Outpost I suppose. Unless the gubment gets things back open....

WelL guys I am headed out there tonight for my Nissan Club run this weekend. We have people there right now and they say Art Lilley is open to camp at and the toilets are even unlocked. So its not a total loss and means there is still places to camp and Park trucks.

I will ocme up friday morning, or late thur night, and leave Sunday at lunch or so. I will drag the trailer up with me, its short and I can take it on the trails if need be. I am just worried about people stealing **** while we are out wheeling.

Why not the road is big enough and the parking lot is huge Doug. And Marlin I wouldnt' be scared We always camp at Art Lilly and theres tons of trucks and people there and always campers never a problem. I would be just as worried leaving it at Arrowhead as much as here.

 really?

I just looked...I wonder why that NFS camp ground is still open?

The used it last weekend

It is shown o1n the map as a trail. It is a decent gravek road. I can drag my trailer pretty much anywhere, so not too worried. The bus on the other hand...soup bowl would be a good view from ur front porch:)

In the Uwharrie website a state park was mentioned in the national forest but I don't know what part it is. Just guessing the trails sound like a state park operation but I don't know. The campgrounds are leased by or rented by a private company that collects the fee.

Firmed up plans today. We are heading down early friday morning. Gonna stay at Art Lilly. Glad I have some solar capability so I can have lights at night.
Vault toilet is open at least. Hope I can find a spot to park the trailer, I imagine it will be pretty busy out there.

Has anybody got an update from 88bronzetrooper on the Uwharrie situation, I'm wondering if the toilets are still functioning. Since A-head is not open we decided to pull the pop up behind the sami trailer and it is going to look a lot like the beverly hillbillys with all our OLD stuff. :bigsmurf:
