You know that's very good idea, Desertbenny are you familiar with these hospitals??

You know we could even do a donation this as well, maybe find a local bank or something to sponsor/collect the donations what do y'all think... I know were all short on cash (well most of us) but just for example $10 donation x 1000 donations = $10,000 and from what the article said his 4 year old son has pretty significant facial injuries...

I'm going to email the kirotv.com and see if I can get anymore information..

EDIT: I just sent kirotv.com and email, I'll let you know if I get a reply.

I heard this on the news a couple of days ago and at the time had no idea it was one of us.

Harbor view is right here in Seattle across town from me.

St. Peters must be down around Olympia/Yelm somewhere.

The whole thing is pretty sad.

From what I saw on film clips of the booking/arraignment, whatever, the guy didn't seem wound to tight to start with.

Add "three tall ones", dog gets hit by a car and a series of really bad decisions and this is what you wind up with.

A four year old's life changed forever.

To top it all off the dog didn't survive.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/l ... run27.html

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I've never set up a fund and don't have a clue how to go about it, but if you guys are serious, I'm right here in Seattle and Benny and a couple of others are down in Olympia.

Maybe we could get our heads together and get something going.

Normally, someone contacts a family member, assesses the situation and goes from there. If the other party or he has insurance, he should be fine financially. If funds are needed, an account can be established at his or another bank, credit union, etc. with a special power of attorney with either he or a person he/ his legal representative appoints to that special power of attorney.

Insurance will hardly be enough. Serious reconstructive surgery by itself will be more than most people's coverage.

Well guys, with that said lets get something put together.

Jim, is there any way you could head this up? Say a paypal account or something we could put funds into? If anyone has a better or easier idea speak up.

I'm definitely serious, I'll contact my lawyer Monday and see if they can provide any incite on how to set this up... I mean come on guys/gals we give each other help sometimes several time a day in one way shape or form dealing with our Isuzu's, I mean even if you can only spare a dollar, multiply that dollar x the thousands of members and we can help a person in a time of need......

x 2, I have short and long term disability at work as well as paid days off, however my disability insurance is far less than my normal income, he's liable to lose/miss a lot of work dealing with his sons hospitalization. If any of you guys out his way want to try and contact them that will be cool, just wait until I speak to my lawyer and see what we need to do, I don't want to bring something up to Opelfrontera and then not be able to bring it to fruition..

Kudos to the admin that made this a sticky...... Good idea bigpoppax2, I checked the paypal account and they have a weekend customer service number, I'll give them a call in the morning,, they have a charity/nonprofit donation button you can add to a site, seems there's a fee associated with withdrawals, I'll try to talk to a real person tomorrow and I'll let you guys know what's up...

O.K. fine.

I'll start off going over to the hospital to get the family's name and information.

I guess that would be the place to start.

After that, I'll be winging it so all suggestions are welcome.

Paypal might work o.k., but I wonder if a account in a local bank might not work better?

As I said, I really don't have a clue how to do this right, but if I'm gonna do it, It's gonna be right.

I wrestled with the idea of going over today just to see how the little guy is doing, but thought it might be intrusive seeing how I'm a total stranger except for onetouch on the forum.

Anyhoot, I'll see what I can do to get the ball rolling, and like I said all suggestions are more than welcome.

Jeff it's great to hear from you, we've gotten a little info on Colin, and we know he's going to pull through this, but how are you and your other son doing ??

I guess the cats out of the bad so to speak, kinda wanted to unveil this thing to you and your family once it was put together, but no worries. Jeff the planet is going to try and give you and your family a leg up.. Hang in there, gods speed for you and your families recovery......there's more to come...

I believe onetouch (Jim) was going to try and contact you, he was nominated because he lives in you area and of course he didn't mind doing it..

Yep, cat's out of the bag so to speak.

All's good though, now I have names and current locations.

Children's hospital is just a couple of miles up the road from where I work.

I get off work at five tomorrow and will go straight on up there and get together with Jeff and get the plan rolling.

This is going to work.

Jeff, I'll be the old grey haired coot in the dirty red 1st gen.

O.K. we're up and going with paypal.

Seemed the best way to go after all.

Just sent a little dab and it works.

Sent the info to one of our mods and I'm sure he will post it in the appropriate sections.

Now folks, let's get together and kick it on out.

Give a little, give a lot, it all adds up to helping Jeff and family out.
