Looking for 16x7 steel wheels with zero-offset - suggestions

Postby dma251 » Fri May 19, 2017 12:20 am

I think I want to try the Buckshot P78-16 mudders on my 89 trooper rs, so I will be needing to replace the wheels. I would like to try to find steel wheels of the "expeditionary" style. Lots of little holes around the ring... Essentially a spare-tire wheel. My concern is getting the correct offset. I like the look of the toyota tacoma spare wheel, and it's the correct 16x7, 6x5.5, but I understand they have a positive offset that will narrow my track-width. I have a rootop tent and need all the track-width I can get, which I really liked about the stock 15x7 snowflakes wide stance.

What vehicles might have a steel 16x7 6-lug spare wheel with zero offset? There's three great junkyards nearby, and tomorrow I might be hunting for wheels...

These are the Gateway Buckshot p78-16 mudders on 16x7 steel rims. Think I might just buy a new set of these from summit and be done with it.

Sounds like the wheel that came on the early Troopers. Not sure of the width or offset. Think they call them 9 hole. The original spare on my son's '88 or '89 'Zu pickup is that wheel. Someone on the site offered up a set for sale not too long ago. No link as I didn't bookmark it. :( Will those tires have any clearance issues?

Unfortunately those are 15", and I'm looking for 16x7. I'm still looking...

Guess I need to pay a little closer attention. :? How about a 6 lug mini-mod trailer wheel? They usually have zero offset. Not sure if they're available with a 7" width. 6", yes.

Yep, no offset but only 6" width. Available in silver or white. https://www.nueratrailerparts.com/trail ... -16x6.html
