Truck looks great. Your snowflakes look immaculate too. Once you get the string / seal thing down it is pretty easy. Dennis

Thanks,
One side finished. Measured all the molding and emblems so I would know how much molding tape to buy. Found it on Walmarts website for under 3 dollars a roll for the 1/2in x 5 feet so ordered 5 rolls. Problem is I forgot to double the order so I would have enough for both sides. Damn.

Thanks, I've been driving it some. Just don't have all the external goodies (molding, emblems) installed yet. And as a side note, The first time I painted the molding I tried the can of SEM bumper & trim paint by itself. It fish eyed. I sanded them again, then bought a can of adhesion promoter. The SEM can said that wasn't necessary, but for me, it was. Took 3 light coats, 3 minutes apart, of the adhesion promoter and then 3 light coats of the SEM paint. I learned that light coats are better than a heavy coat.

OK, so got the windows tinted. Mostly complete. Senior center sponsored a car show so I entered the Trooper. ONLY foreign car there. All Detroit iron. I didn't have much of a chance. It was fun though and we got lots of attention. No one ever saw an 89 RS. Posted some of the cars, we had 61 cars there.

Thanks, just not that much interest in Troopers from the car show crowd. The Yellow vet did get a top 20 award. The crowd favorite was a 69 beetle that was next to me (didn't get a picture) but it was really restored nicely. My favorite was a toss up between a fairly new Jag. coupe and a 49 Lincoln zepher on a newer town car frame. It was stud.

The Jags are beautiful, the Brits have always done a good job with their sports cars. And us Trooper owners have already learned about quirky engines, unreliable electronics and poor resale value, so only natural that you would be attracted to the jag  At least they got rid of the Lucas electronics. Funny thing about the old British sports cars I had and enjoyed when I was young and they were cheap, is that I'm now older and I can't afford them any longer. Chrome bumper MG's, Austin Healey, Jensen Healey, Triumph, Sunbeam all went from cheap to through the roof. I think the good buys are now with the 80's and into the 90's Jags, Lotus's, and a few of the Aston Martins. Of course all of them are expensive to maintain and keep running but I think the pricing on several models have bottomed out, and they sure are pretty. The XJS is one that is pretty appealing price wise right now , I like the 6, not a fan of the V 12 of that era. I've already owned one of those and the best I can say is it was a ball to drive on the 5 days out of the year when it was running properly.

And a vintage bug was the crowds pick? Since the RS didn't win, that is a worthy choice. I have one of those too...which I will I will get around to redoing soon (in the next year or so) (someday). :?

Thanks for posting up those pictures, haven't been to a show in awhile, and like any good gear head, I love seeing what everyone else is fixing up.

Willie,
Used to be a business in Dallas called John's Jags, and he put small blocks in xjs's. That was what I always wanted when I was at that time in my life. I guess he went out of business when he did most of the xjs's in the area. The guy with the Jag. at the show had deep pockets and informed me, he got the 3rd one of his model that was imported. It had the v-6 in it with somewhere around 350 hp. But it was really nice. On the other hand the Lincoln zepher 2 door on the town car frame was really a work of art. It had all the town car comforts with the oldie body. In process of putting the Hella lights back on the front of mine. They were there when I bought it, so thought why not.

Here's another really neat build at the car show I over looked the first time around. It was a C-5 series vet, early 2000, with body work to make it look like an early 60's model. even had the early tail lights on the back. Probably clicking on the picture will make it bigger where you can really see it.
