Update...

3000 miles so far, its doing great. I just now figured out the fuel gauge situation. I ended up using a fuel pick-up from a 92 trooper that didn't run through the computer. I've done 270 miles and it shows a little MORE than half tank :D. My parking brake is sticking i just found out so i hope the mileage gets even better.

Damn I'm jealous. I finally got my 3.5 out of the trooper i bought... cracked crank go figure I had been looking for a diesel/ manual trans for a few months now and haven't had any luck so I ended up jumping on a 98 rodeo pullout for $500 guess a gas engine is going back in. :(

Yeah i wired it up before installing it in the tank. I lifted the float while watching the gauge and half tank was half, full was full ect... The low fuel light kicks on in the right spot too, I'm still watching how many miles i drive though just incase  power is good, its strange its a different kind of power. As i told black98rodeo, its almost like a tractor trailer with a load, its powerful but slow to get up to speed. I haven't had anyone in the DFW area shoot me the bird yet so its not too slow..

A little update...

I've been driving the crap out of it and its doing great.

I just took it for a little trip to Austin last weekend for the F1 race, it never skipped a beat!, We couldnt find a cheap place to stay down in austin during the race so we used the RTT. I bought an Annex for my dad to stay in, It worked great. We had to take down camp every morning and set it back up every night, I got it down to 30min's so it wasnt too bad really.

Not totally, the tach, oil pressure, and fuel need wired up. I spoke too early when i said the fuel gauge was working. The gauge seems accurate from full down to half then it stops moving just below half. My low fuel light works so i fill up when the light comes on. I'm going to rewire my instrument cluster this spring. I bought a fuel gauge from a 95 trooper but later found out that the 98-up troopers use a different style cluster. So im going to order a diesel cluster and wire it up right.
Ive done a few projects on it here and there, Just before my trip to Austin i pulled an all nighter and installed a new clutch kit, i didnt have enough time to order the clutch from England when i had to swap motors. Also added a block heater and made up some heater lines. I'll post up some pics pretty soon. Next project is wiring up my high idle switch, should be pretty straight forward.

It seems like it will. It doesn't seem under powered really. It can keep up with the traffic in DFW fairly easily. Ive been meaning to hitch up my 89 for a test tow, if i remember right my 89 is over 5000 lbs. I'll see if i can hitch it up next weekend and report back...

I figured i'd post up a little project I've just finished. I was tired of looking at my ghetto gauge setup so i decided to make a pillar mounted gauge pod. I bought a universal pod mount but it was nowhere close to fitting so i cut it up and grafted it onto my stick pillar.

Thanks, its still purring like a kitten. Its averaging only 18-20 mpg. Not sure if its because the larger than stock tires or maybe i need to have the injectors checked out?? The engine has some vibes. I havent had a chance to tow the 89 yet. Ive got to buy some of those magnetic lights and and a wiring kit for the 01. Hopefully soon...
On a side note I've also added some 285/75R16's.
