Never having done this on a Honda, I'm not speaking from any experience, but having done several on Isuzu's, there's no way that I can see where it can be installed too tight. Maybe the idler pulley or pulleys and the tensioner were re-used, (bad idea) and the new belt being it's not stretched is putting more strain on the pulleys or tensioner. Just saying!
