I'm a sucker for a good deal

Postby TonkaToy » Wed Nov 23, 2016 1:57 am

Laura (my wife for those who don't know) has been driving her little Rav4 for years and loves it. It however needs some serious love. The interior is about shot from years of kids spilling stuff, dogs traipsing about, and just general wear and tear. It doesn't bother her, but I wanted to upgrade it, and had been looking on having the carpet replaced and the seats recovered, but it was pricey. While talking to my boss about this he informed me that he had just bought a new car and his "company car" was going to be for sale soon. This is a Nissan Maxima SL (their Sport Luxury model) that has been garage kept, with 72,000 miles, and maintained very well. It is fully loaded with every option they offered at the time. Neither of us have ever owned a car with half of these features. The only issue is the roof needs to be repainted. For some reason, the paint is coming off.

Long story short, I bought it for her to drive, and she loves it. It is super fast, and fun to drive. She is tickled with the seat and steering wheel warmers with these cold mornings we have been having lately.

For $1000, I think I got a good deal. :D

That's more than a good deal. That's a great deal, and with heated seats too. Our daily driver has heated seats, and we use them everytime we drive in cold weather. Enjoy!

2000 Amigo, 2.2 5 speed(sold)

That's the deal of the year right there!

Good cars. We recently traded my wife's Maxima off. I never did get used to that CVT transmission.. just too freaky. But if you put it in manual... tons of fun.
I don't remember the brand.. but the factory tires on hers were awful on wet roads. Hydroplaned bad. And that's a weird tire size... pretty pricey. A new set will cost about what you paid for the car.

Nice Find. I recently picked this up. It was cheaper than your car, but older and it needed a few things (supercharger bearing and ac compressor were the biggest).

Another sweet deal... Is that the one you were working on when you posted about the goofy S/C bearing?

I've been looking for cars I can flip, just for funsies. There's a local 02 VW Passat TDI, SUPER clean, 180k on it. $1500.. just needs a transmission..

Dennis. Here in North Texas, sometimes after work I'll have the AC on max.. and have the heated seats in my GTP turned on. Feels good on the back after 12 hours.. May have to put some heated seats in the truck too.
