1989 S-10 busted power steering pump bracket

Postby Von » Sun Sep 11, 2016 4:45 pm

More stepson car carnage...

Youngest boy got an 89 S-10, 2.8, 4x4. Could be a cool little truck... It held up for a few weeks then showed up at my curb with a busted bracket about 2 months ago. I've been ignoring it but can't any longer... getting pressure from management.

I've tracked down a couple of part numbers that's useless...discontinued. So I guess I'm either going to a junk yard or trying to magic this one back together. JB Weld? it was a thought...
Does anyone know what else this bracket was used on?

Here it is with the remaining parts held together with Luck. Stud tab on the bottom is broke off too.

I found references to it also being used on Firebirds with the 2.8. Was it on everything with the 2.8? Trooper? I know a couple of yards here that have some 1st Gens... been looking for an excuse to go look at them.

That's the same engine from the V6 first gens troopers. I am not sure if they share the same pump bracket though...

Yeah. I liked the 2.8 that was in my Trooper. I can't remember where the power steering pump on the Trooper was though. Or the A/C compressor. The S-10 and the 2.8 Firebird had the pump down low on the driver side and the A/C compressor on top. The bottom of the A/C bracket bolts to the pump bracket. So any 2.8 with the pump and compressor in that configuration should have this bracket. ?

They show up on ebay in the UK but not here in the States. I contacted a salvage yard in Tulsa that is selling S-10/2.8 parts on ebay and asked about it... $75 for that bracket.

I should be off Thursday or Friday. I'll go down to the yard where that old bastard sold me my 3.4 first. He still has some older stuff. There's another yard that has a LOT of older stuff... but that guy is a ******* bastard.
