I made this up yesterday…its for the VW….
It's a replica of an original…I think it turned out pretty good…
If you know what it is (a copy of what it is) I will be impressed…

Where's N Law when i need him? Everything is looking great buddy. Really anxious for more truck, tho the beetle is an entertaining side piece.

My Datsun…..yeah I know…I have been so busy on the VW and will continue to be that I have allowed the datsun painter to once again slack off and do nothing….I text him at least once a week and he is always going to get on it..lol
If I wasn't doing the VW I would have pulled the truck out and given it to the VW painter to finish…

This is a fender that was indoors…(it got scratched and has to get redone)….The color takes on a dark grey with a blue undertone indoors…

And as for my Jetsons gizmo…..its a copy of these goofy things…
I need to make a taller one next and use a thinner base….I originally used chrome sleeves in between the discs but it just took away from the discs so I went with the plastic ones which I liked better…reminds me more of the catalin radios and such from the 30's-50's…

I knew it wasn't necessarily VW specific! I asked everyone I know in VWs that knows more than me and no one knew what it was. It's a pretty good reproduction of a radar areial intensifier, whatever that does!!!

Wow. I am totally not into shiny cars, but between this bug and the pickemup I feel my that my opinion may need tweaking. Excellent work so far.

Thank you Chuffer…
I went in today and stripped down the front seats to the bare frames and did some sanding on the gas tank…I brought the speedometer home so I can clean it up and replace the indicator and gels…
Side note…I was pleased to find the Datsun painter prepping the doors to spray them…So perhaps there will be more progress on the little truck soon…

Spent awhile on the VW…I ran a chaser on all the threads for the fenders to make sure all was clean..Ran and picked up some new hardware. I got the pass. rear fender installed and the taillight assembly on and wired. Started to clean up and paint the wiper motor assembly..waiting on a few parts..I guess today my main thing was getting that fender, welting and taillight assembly on so I could get a visual of how she will turn out...

Moved the Beetle out of the paint shop and into storage…..Got the new headlight switch in and did a little bit more wiring after work…I put the grab handle on! Whew..that was tough

Still waiting on some parts to finish up the dash….Had to buy another speedometer for the needle..mine is broken and actually the glass has a chip so I will swap those parts from the parts speedo..at least it was really cheap~

Wow. Your father also takes great care of the things he doesn't sell.

Oh and share a pic of the rest of the collection. That is impressive.

This is the 46 Ford woodie……and the 37 Ford woodie my parents owned from the 1970's until maybe 10 years ago….my mother sold it after she got it in the divorce. The 37 was used on the Solid Gold T.V. show lol…and commercials. Disneyland had it parked in front of the park entrance for a few weeks during their "Blast to the Past" promotion…it was a great wagon and I had a lot of fun in it..Somewhere I have a pic of my future wife and I in it at age 14'ish…lol.
Jan & Dean had signed the glovebox way back when…my father saw the car a year or so after my mom sold it…the new owner had removed all of the beautiful original wood and had bleached out blond wood put on the car but in the style of a 1940 which was totally different…He also removed the black vinyl top and used cloth and repainted the wagon getting rid of the Jan & Dean autograph on the glovebox door..He didn't like the super rare 1937 bench seats (all 3 of them) so he yanked those out and put late model crap seats from some pos.…He asked the old man how he liked it…..to that the old man told him he was a F'ing idiot and ruined the car…which was true..lol
I would love to have owned that one myself because of all the memories but the idiot completely redid everything…It's been lost to the new group of woodie owners which are a bunch of old fuddy duddies that got out of T-Birds and heard woodies were the newest trendy cool thing to own…the new crowd of owners really do suck. My dad was an old surfer..(still has his 1964 harbour board)….He still goes to the woodie shows but I can't stand the crowd..He understands..lol

Is the Cyclone hiding in there too? love that car.

Woodies are cool... Closest I've gotten yet is an 83 Olds Custom Cruiser with the "wood" stickers on the side after my second divorce. POS, but a smooth ride and a queen size mattress fit in the back with room for a cooler.

Still digging the color on the bug... even more with shots of it outside. Wondering how that would look on my Fairlane.
