The motor is back in and under the hood got cleaned up quite a bit. Also the underside is getting prettier... :D

Just curious, on the woodie. It's a 38, right. My first car was a 39 Merc. It was the first year for mercury and the first year for hydraulic brakes., at least that's what I remember. So, did the 38 come with mechanical brakes and then converted over to hydraulics? I too didn't know about the wooden headliner. Cool ride.
Side note, My 39 ended up with a 59AB block, Offie finned aluminum heads, 3/4 race harmon Collins cam, dual carb intake with strumburg 97's and fenton cast iron headers, which if still available would look good on that 38.

Yes to the Rambler thread...eventually.
Mechanical brakes would have been on the 38 orig. Now it has the front discs and ford drums.

I got my rock auto newsletter and, while reading through it, I saw a '71 521 truck restoration! I had to come here and look at the first post to realize that it wasn't the same back story, but still pretty cool! Check it out: http://www.rockauto.com/Newsletter/index.html

521 dash is buttoning up..pretty much waiting on disc brake kit for the front to really finish..
In the meantime a friend had a really cool wagon and he decided not to restore it. He wanted a full resto while I kept saying to just do a mechanical restomod and leave the original paint and interior...so he goes and buys another Rambler and then offers me his wagon...I had to pick it up even if it sits a year before I can touch it..its just too funky and cool plus the majority is original factory paint..no hidden secrets and I love the patina..

Yes another wagon. Its officially Ballerina red lol...
Those wagons are so hard to find. Theres only 1 other one out there in these colors and it used to belong to my friend a few years ago and it was rough..looked good in pics but really bad body and paint..I couldnt pass this one up. Im thinking small block or V6 Chevy...basic motor with auto...swap the rearend and retrofit for deleting the torque tube...then leave it alone but a nice drop.

Nice! Does it have the right fuel pump? It looks like it's a generator one instead of the alternator one. It'll work fine until you need to replace it! Nice score though! No excuses now!

Has a Bosch alternator..as for the fuel pump?? We did run the motor for a few minutes before I bought it..sounded great..I plan on installing the motor within a week or two. Since my VW was converted to 12v the bellhousing was already ground to clear the flywheel...

It's definitely a good set up to go to 12volt and use an alternator. The mistake I made when switching to an alternator was leaving the same fuel pump on. They changed the fuel pump when they switched to alternator because the fat ring on the alternator prevented you from replacing the fuel pump without removing the alternator. The alternator fuel pump angles the pump a little bit to provide enough clearance to get it out, but it uses a shorter push rod. Not a fun thing to learn about when broken down!

Ah! That looks like a universal fit pump. Those work with either generator or alternator! You should be good! Disregard my comment. I just didn't want you to figure it out the same way I did!

The Nash is a Statesman..iy's actually rather big for a Nash. I would say maybe slightly smaller than a Chevy of the same year. I parked it next to a 63 Plymouth Sport Fury and it looked the same or maybe a tad larger lol..Metropolitans are smaller than a VW bug..I'd take one of those too lol
