Here's my other ride. Will be swapping a 1.9L in her soon as the 1.8 has bad rings.

FYI a 1.8 head on a 1.9 lower end raises the compression plus if the 1.8 head is pre-1980 it has a larger intake valve than '80-on 1.8s & 1.9s.
'78 LUV, 1.9, headers, 4-spd, SAS Dana 30 front, Dana 20, SOA rear w/Aussie Locker, 31's, serious body cancer, bought new 12/4/78.
'87 Trooper, 2.3, headers, 5-spd, 31's, ball joint flip, Aussie Locker rear, Superwinch hubs, brush guard w/5.5K winch, needs motor, work in progress.

Thanks for the info. I started with a reman. 1.9 long block so hopefully I'll end up with average compression. but, oldestisuzuist, I'd love any other advice you have on swapping in the 1.9, any differences/things to watch out for?

This is in "Other vehicles", but I don't know why. It's a 'Zu as much as anything else on this forum. Having a bowtie doesn't change what's inside. ;)
