89 RS Denver U Pull and Pay

Postby RickP » Sat Feb 25, 2017 5:31 pm

As much as I would love to have the 4.77 gears and I assume that's what it has, I don't have the tools or time to pull them. It also has Superwinch manual hubs and a Pacesetter header.T here is also an 86 2 door there, but the grille setup is gone. :)

Gee .. I wonder what happened there. :)

Glad you have the good fortune!

What about the covers for the top of the front seat belt mounts -the little plastic doodads the cover the bolt to the pillar?

And the heater core ??? Always a hot commodity -if they don't leak.
And the cam shaft ??? In good condition these can be turned into the Jerry Can, a way cool upgrade for 2.3 /2.6 liter 4 cylinders.

Also, you can do a solid for your new best friends on the Planet by harvesting the distributor, carb and intake off that '86 Trooper.
Those pieces will also fit the 2.6 (with minor mods) allowing it to be converted to carb & vacuum advance vs ECM controlled EFI.
Maybe make a few nickels for yourself while helping members out.

There are two Troopers there. Unfortunately, I'm here for work for a couple days and just didn't have the time to do much else. So, that's why I posted it here. The RS entered the yard with round headlights, but they were gone when I got there. Here's the pic from the yard's website.

Oh Oh!! That looks like the "Scrapper" that member VXorado was playing with here last year. I think he sold it August of 2016. If it is the same one, there aren't any 4.77's in it, they'd already been pulled and replaced with 4.30s. Still, sad to see it meet its end...
1995 Trooper - first Troop long time ago, sold when 3rd child arrived
1994 Trooper - SOHC, 5 Spd, oldest child's first car
1993 Trooper RS -my DD, DOHC, 5 Spd, bought after driving first kid's rig, realized how much I used to like first Troop!
1998 Trooper - 3.5L oil burner, 5 Spd, 2nd child's car
1999 Trooper - 3.5L needs attention, 5 Spd, 15 YO son's future driver
1993 Trooper RS - DOHC, 5 Spd/blown clutch, significant body damage, not sure whether to modify or strip and crush

BUMMER!

I guess the scrapper finally met it's fate. I drove it as a daily for a year and a half without any issue. I just saw it driving around a few months ago and the new owner had given it some aesthetic TLC.

As trooper4kids wrote, the 4.77s are gone so don't waste your time. Only other upgrades I remember were the round headlights and headers. The five speed shifted ok and the entire 4x4 system was in good shape. Also, new exedy clutch in 14.' Lots of Bondo on most panels.
