10 years already!

Postby squatch » Sat Dec 31, 2016 5:48 pm

I just realized that December 16, 2016 was my 10 year anniversary on PlametIsuzoo! I joined in 2006 while building Red Beans. It's been a heck of a ride ever since. I've met some great folks here. Actually quite a few in the real world and many are now and have been for some time good personal friends.

There have been some changes here since I joined. But the community seems to be as strong as ever. The last couple of events I attended at URE had more folks than we've seen in years.

Some good folks have dropped by the wayside over the years. But it works like that in the real world too. Trucks get old, situations change, folks move on to other interests. But it seems that for every person we lose someone else comes on board. That's important to maintaining our hobby.

Isuzu stopped making and Importing trucks in 2004 for all practical purposes in the US. 12 years ago! Yet there still seems to be plenty of folks willing to get dirty and keep these great trucks doing what they do best. Great stuff! :D

Some know that my situation required me to buy a newer truck recently. It's getting some of my time and money lately as well. But I still have my Zu's. Black Beans is patiently waiting in the garage for me to decide how to finish the build at this point. Red Beans is in the drive and is used regularly but in need of a spruce up. New trucks have their uses. But except for a couple of years I've been behind the wheel of a Trooper since February of '88 when I bought the 1st one new. I intend to stick around and keep driving my Zu's.

Anyway as we get ready to start a New Year I just wanted to say thanks to all the good folks on the planet. This place is an example to the rest of the net. Everyday you folks show the world that an online community can be a REAL Community made up of great folks!

Happy New Year to all and keep up the good work. :occasion5: :occasion6: :occasion9:

Mark,

It's amazing how the time has flown by. I joined almost a year to the day before. Also, I was at the exit door of Isuzu not too long ago then fate, in the name of the VW emissions scandal, stepped in and I found myself rebuilding another 89 Trooper AND buying a 94 Trooper SE with only 69k miles. So I'm back in the Isuzu game. Lol! Guess I'll see you around the campfire soon. Here's to another ten years! Cheers!

Congrats, if you hadn't found your way here, I'd still be trying to time my 2.6 using no. 1. I've reviewed your timing post every time I work on mine. And I love this forum too, and visit here every morning while drinking my morning coffee.

Rather scary to think about.   Strangely enough, I was in Atlanta at the time I joined. I saw a built Tan 2nd gen Trooper on the street in downtown ATL near the Liquor Store that had the Security Guard who dressed up like Super Man. Anyway.... I remember checking out the Trooper and seeing an ITOG bumper sticker, after checking out ITOG, I landed here.
