Re: Why I hate craigslist...

Postby DSUZU » Mon Jun 09, 2014 6:57 pm

Today's craigslist experience: I had an old bicycle engine laying around. I put it on C/L on Saturday as "not running" for 25.00 (as opposed to tossing it in the trash). On Sunday, I start getting calls from people who have lost their license, so they want it to use a bicycle for transportation (legal in Florida, they're referred to as "Drunk Bikes"). They all have the problem - they can't get down here because they can't drive (duh). "Well, first person that puts 25.00 in my hand gets it". Finally a guy (D.B.)calls who CAN drive, but he's at work (call me tomorrow). He can't make tomorrow (today) work because he works the opposite shift as I do. He'll have his buddy stop by and get it. "Fine, I get off @ 4:00, he needs to call me then, and I'll give him my address". D.B. calls the house @ 10:00 while I'm at work (too bad, no one answers the phone). 4:00 comes and goes, D.B. has called no less that 3 times, but doesn't leave message. I try to call D.B. back because it's after 4:30, and I haven't heard from "buddy". Another guy who had called, but can't drive calls and says He'll give me 40.00 if I bring it to his house (he's about 5 miles away). "Sure, I'll leave right away". At 4:45, D.B and "buddy" start calling left and right, and "buddy" shows up at the house (never gave any of them my address). Wife (now pissed) tells him to leave, that I took it to sell it to someone who offered me more. 2 more calls from D.B. and 3 more from ''buddy". I get home and wife is pissed @ ME now (but not for long). D.B. finally calls me and when I say that I sold it, he calls me "B****" Another quality craigslist experience :D
"B." = bag :D Dennis

You're confused,rather much so. DB was going to send Buddy to pick it up, neither called at the set time. Seller gets a call from third oerson who offers 40 if he delivers it. In the time that seller is delivering to third person both DB and buddy start calling and one shows up etc... Read it again. It's perfectly clear...

I can only imagine that 4" tube is exhaust pipe. If it was something sturdy enough to save you like 1/8" wall it would be heavy as all hell.

The way to avoid key words is to check the box that says search titles only. CL doesn't allow enough characters in the title to put all those key words.

That could cause you miss a LOT of the listings you want to find, unfortunately. And it still doesn't alter the fact that keyword spammers are thoughtless at best--but more likely lowlife scum.
