1989 2.6 Trooper, Oil Pressure Sender Connector

Postby JCS » Sun Feb 09, 2014 9:34 pm

On the oil pressure sending unit on a 1989 2.6 Trooper, there is a funny looking clip connector that snaps onto the sending unti. Have looked everywhere but no luck. Wanted to stay stock if possible? Any ideas where to get this connector?

OEM connector is a nifty little black slip-on clip with plastic cover over the connector. A simple crimp-on 1/4" female spade connector works fine - try to find one with an insulating cover.

If you are talking about the one for the gauge that looks like the attached pic, that is used on several different types of vehicles, but I don't know the correct name for it. It is a type of spade connector that has a "spring" built into it. Some Toyotas used that type of sending unit. Maybe you can go to the Toyota dealership and get one. Here's a list of vehicles that use the same exact sender as the Trooper.
SUZU I-MARK 1981
ISUZU TROOPER 1988-1991
TOYOTA 4RUNNER 1984-1991
TOYOTA CELICA 1976-1989
TOYOTA CRESSIDA 1982-1984
TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 1974-1983
TOYOTA MR2 1985-1989
TOYOTA PICKUP 1984-1992
TOYOTA SUPRA 1986-1993
TOYOTA VAN 1984-1989

That's it, thanks Rick. Surely someone at Toyota has messed up a connector?
