Advice on Motor Swap 6cyl Auto to 4cyl manual

Postby Panhandler » Tue Mar 28, 2017 2:24 pm

Hello fellow Isuzunites!
I bought a 1984 4cyl, manual tranny, two door Trooper to use as a farm truck. Although it has served me well, it was bought with no title so has not been street legal. Sweet Pea is now needing CVjoints, wheel bearings and other TLC but I can't justify spending the time/money to get it usable and street legal (not a necessity but very desirable for value and such). The motor and tranny are strong. About the time I decided to save some cash and perform a DIY job I found a 1990 4door (always wanted for kids and big hunters getting in/out) 6cyl auto with a knocking motor and clear title. My plan is to swap the 4cyl/manual and anything else thats in better shape, from the '84 into the '90.
Is it an easy swap as far as mounts for the motor/tranny/transfer or will there be major fabricating involved? Any help is greatly appreciated.
