'01 Rodeo with dim cluster lights

I bought my daughter an '01 Rodeo a few months ago and trying to research why the dashboard cluster lights are so dim with the dimmer set to max. The cluster seems like it is half the brightness that it should be. (There doesn't appear to be any bulbs burnt out. ) Are there brighter bulbs I can put in? Or is it possibly an issue with the dimmer?

Note: I know some may suggest LEDs and I have them in my other vehicle (Wrangler)...love them, but ya can't dim them down. Want to keep these dim-able for her.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Don't know if the Rodeo is the same way, but on my Trooper the dash lights are on the same circuit as the tail lights. So if you have a wonky trailer light converter it can affect the dash lights. Worth checking anyway.

That might be a good clue because a week ago I hooked up a small trailer (using the 7pin) to move it out of the driveway, and noticed the trailer lights didn't work on the trailer. I will check out the wiring.

May not be grounded at trailer wiring.

This is prob a bad ground issue. Corrosion or poor ground can result in an additional resistance (voltage drop), and cause less than 12V going thru the wiring to ground. Check the grounds on the circuits and any additional wiring you may have added.
