MAP AND DIRECTIONS:

Google Maps Directions to the Eldorado Outpost - Located just outside of the trails.

To get to the Arrowhead Campground from the Outpost, turn left out of the parking lot. Look for the sign for the horse camp and turn left on SR1154. Make a right at the "T" intersection onto SR544. Go past the horse camp to the stop sign at the next T intersection. You will see a sign saying Arrowhead Campground is to the left. Make the left onto the dirt road SR597. Make a right at the sign marking the turn to the camp ground on SR597B. The road is paved just before you pass a dump station. When you get into Arrowhead, keep your speed down and watch out for the speed bumps. The road will fork. You have to go to the right because the road becomes one way. The camp sites are well marked by numbers and with the last name of the person making the reservation.

THINGS TO BRING:

You must have a trail pass. An annual pass is $30. A day pass is $5 per day. Trail passes can be purchased at the Outpost.

It often rains at least one day during the event. So rain gear and tarps are recommended. Fire wood is always appreciated.

It is a good idea to bring a tool kit and some trail spares, as I can tell you from experience that sh_t happens on the trails. We tend to help one another out so if everybody brings something, we usually have everything covered and there is an auto parts store in Troy.

FOOD AND SUPPLIES:

This tends to be a very informal event. People come and go as they please; some preferring to hang out at camp or go fishing instead of trail riding. With the Flintlock Range now open, some will also go shooting (passes are $3 per day and are available at the Outpost). So bring enough food and drink to last the entire event. Food, drink and ice are available at the Outpost or in Troy. The Outpost also has a good breakfast for around $5. Usually there is a group dinner on Friday. If the weather is bad on Sat, we sometimes go into town and have dinner at Zeno's.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER NOTICE:
As always, this will be a completely un-sponsored and unofficial event ... No clubs or organizations will be overseeing the activities. This is simply going to be a bunch of friends and online acquaintances getting together for a weekend of fun, good food, and lots of off-road amusement.

ALL attendees will be utterly and solely responsible for themselves and the guests within their individual group(s) (including all vehicles and equipment), and shall be expected to abide by the laws, rules, and policies set-down by our true hosts, the United States Forestry Service and the people of the great state of North Carolina.

Site #12 booked for Wednesday through Sunday... I should be rocking my new "shack" by then!

Why so far away from the main group?

Site 12 is one of my favorites, it's a pull through, close to the bath house and easy to come/go without having to drive around the loop every time... although now that you mention it, I am a little isolated... hmmm... :|

I was thinking that you just wanted a little peace and quiet being away from the main group, but I am sure your new shack will take care of that problem wherever your camp.

If I make it, I'll probably be close to the entrance/exit as well. Easier to get to the fun!

Another hopeful maybe. Last Friday a lady in an Infinity lost control in the rain, spun out ending up in my lane on 485, I hit the brakes before we hit each other (almost head on), the momentum of her car spinning ended up slamming us into the concrete barricade (her car directly in front of me, facing my vehicle). Mazda 626 is probably totaled (roof even buckled from the impact), so depending on how much money they give us we might have to get the Raider back on the road. That means November isn't out of the question, time will tell. And hopefully by then my chest contusions and fractured rib will have healed.

 Eli, I am glad that you survived! Couldn't you come up with a safer plan to get the Raider back on the road?

Seriously, a cracked rib and some bruises are less than I would have expected. It is amazing you were able to walk out of that wreck.

I have always wanted to get the Raider back on the road, but it hasn't been a big priority with all the other stuff going on lately. Having a second money pit doesn't help either (picture attached). Having to daily it again would be a perfect excuse, just not sure I want to revisit that adventure. Super Swampers aren't exactly daily driver friendly as we all know, but we will just wait and see what the insurance adjuster decide. And thanks for the kind words, it could have been a lot worse. The roof buckled from how severe the impact was, so I thank God I walked away.

It turns out that this is the 100th birthday of Isuzu! viewtopic.php?f=1&t=87953

Maybe we should celebrate if we end up having a group dinner? I was thinking of a birthday cake with either the Isuzu logo and/or a miniature truck (if anybody has one).

Glad to hear that you're OK and that it wasn't more serious. By the way, that pic reminds me of a Raider that looked something like that one night on Dutch John, nothing some bailing wire couldn't fix. :p

I'll have to see if Scott can make us up a banner... "Isuzu, celebrating 100 years."

Yeah, I am pretty sure you can't fix that with bailing wire. I will say your guys fix on Dutch John flipping my tie rod end on top of the castle nut and wrapping it in bailing wire was impressive. A night I won't forget, I still remember being called the pinball wizard.

Just put an order in on 2 of these, only $486 (no mounting or balancing). Looks like they will be giving us $1,500 for the 626, but I may not get that money until after the car rental runs out. So temporary fix is get the Raider back on the road, then when the $1,500 comes in go looking for a new DD.

I'm a solid maybe for now, it all depends on work. If I'm free i think I can swing an overnight. Anyone have room for a tent on their site.

This was just taken 20 minutes ago. (The New) Stang & Raider made their first joint voyage ever, and my buddy Mike that helped me get the Raider running was there in his Sentra also. So the Raider might see Uwharrie this year after all.... no wheeling (still has frame rot to the point the one shock is barely attached) but it might stop in for a visit.

At least the Raider is rolling. Hopefully, the frame will stay in one piece. Sounds like you have to do a transplant. Maybe find one with a blown motor.
