I've named my Trooper Christine because when I purchased it I knew it had problems. Some easy some more difficult to figure out. I thought I had electrical issues to the WW front and rear but after a few days both are working ! same with the rear defrost ? well that was easy theres another few issues that I have to tackle some underlying problems before i attack others . MY exhaust is toast , and theres some motor issues that could be related to it. One thing then another all in a logical order  . But when I got it i knew it needed tires so over to the wrecking yard and found a set of 30 x 10 x 15 for the thing for 150 $ studded no less ! :blackeye: . with that immediate problem solved i thought I could slide on some other things I wanted to do . well that was a mistake.

well after that debacle I decided I need a WINCH 8 k at least .. being on a pension i decided to check the craigslists used loops kijiji etc and found one NIB for 200$Champion brand .

went out today and installed a electric fuel pump in the dreaded ford and now we are getting fuel but even after leaving the jumpers on the boat anchor for an hour when he hits his starter my rodeo fails to keep up looks like this summer im gonna try to install a cs130 one wire GM alternator in this thing

I wouldn't attempt to jump start a diesel with a vehicle with one small single battery. Years back, I had a Ford diesel van and I left the headlights on at a customers house, but didn't realize it until the end of the day and my battery was dead. She jump started me with her Cadillac SUV. The next day she called and her alternator had failed. I felt horrible, but luckily it was only a year old and under warranty.

keep us posted on the alternator upgrade. I want to do something similar.

#106 ·
it will be a spring summer thing unless my alternator dies before then. so far no damage has appeared on my alt system so far  but yes that was the only time that will happen. I see no reason to be rolling around on the frozen earth unless I'm forced to mearly putting the chains on is enough for this old timer...

Great Job! Nothing worse than a frozen diesel.

#109 ·
you betcha. that sucked the worst part was I knew what would do it but they woudnt listen...took em a while to clue in ..ah well tomorrow its an ice fishing day for me

#110 ·
Well I am glad thats over. I got my new HIDs installed into my new headlight buckets. wasnt to bad except I zapped myself .... :drunken:  Normally I dont feel that sort of zap I have done much damage to my nerves what with being in the LIGHT INFANTRY yea right the only thing thats light is my brains. But what the hey they are in and look a lot brighter then those stock style bulbs. while I was at it today in the much warmer weather i decided to lube up my driver side window rails and try to see what the issue is with my master control switch for windows .. Well nothing i can see but it started to sleet so i put the covers on and packed it in. I can control MY drivers window but non of the others any ideas guys and gals? :?:

#111 ·
Well I have to admit, you gave me a chuckle on getting zapped. But then I thought on 12 volts? That is a new one on me, but I have no experience with the HID lights. I have no idea on the windows, I have them on the Trooper but they all work nicely. Now talking about an old Chevy it was the entire master control switch. Replaced it and they all worked fine. I think I would fiddle with the wires on the bottom of the switch and see if you can jump the switch and see if the windows move at all.

at the connectors it was more then 12 v because it runs through the box that modifies the frequency i heard a BUZZZ then ZAP..! could of been Zap then BUZZ .. It all happened pretty quick. I took the HIDs out for a drive last night and it was like driving with lightning bugs in jam jars . So this am, i took em out and put the other stock bulbs in Well SYLVYNA (SP) ones actually. ... LED I guess once I do some research and find out what works and what I want. :albino:

#113 ·
I saw the pictures you posted on FB, looked good while you were sitting still. Lightning bugs in jars was a funny comparison!

#114 ·
they look great sitting still but not many lumens the term is i guess

#115 ·
research done and bulbs ordered 12000 lm for a pair or 6000 lm for one bulb. i was looking at all sorts of them and man you really have to watch it with the LEDs some came producing 800 lm. back to the jam jars if i would of ordered them . CAVAT EMPTOR! I guess really holds the truth here. When I get them Ill show the results. ill do a pic of them against the wall like the standard pics then give my mental comparison going from bugs in jars to compressed stars in a force field

so after doing maths and pictures I have started in on my new bumper mounts prior to the winch bumper being constructed. making it out of 4" angle 1/4 " thick yes it is heavy and overkill but I will never break it when I'm done

Much maths later I started in on the real cuts the riser has been notch cut so I get a full and complete weld path. At this point if i decided to go with 2 inch tube i know I would be just as good for torque load resistance IE if I hit something, or a full draw on the winch. If someones life is going to be on the line I want it not to fail, Just last year there was a fatality up at a local lake while winching where the steel cable broke. Thats why I dont mess around with stuff like this, Safety must always be maintained. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. to quote ferris buelller

Well, you at least gave it all you had, and made it worthwhile for your buddy. I am sure he appreciated the opportunity to show off his truck and gear... ;)

So after being annoyed that someone that owned this thing previously , and added a 1 1/4" tow tube to it vs the 2" tube. I decided I had to change that . it would also raise my departure angle a few degrees as i lifted it also. so I took the license plate off cut that oversized plate that it was mounted to. then we started grinding metal

Well I bought a boat...;well actually a trailer and a boat 400 $ tows sweet behind my ROWDAYO, but no motor no steering mech or throttle mech. its a trihull 14 ft 1962 Powercat . which means its older then me ... I do have a 6 HP motor in the shop I have to tinker with but i will see if i can get it running if i can ill hang it on this here beast. if i stay under 9.9 HP I will not have to register it as a power boat or get my captains watercraft paperwork :D 8) its small and light enough that i can maneuver the trailer around but big enough me and another stout friend will not sink it

It owed super nice behind the rodeo and the trooper should have no issues handling it also . I got it mainly for the trailer mainly so I could build a flat deck trailer for hauling stuff around but also plan on a teardrop style camper that i could put on if i want to go GLAMPING

Something like this
