I never really contribute around here but have gotten lots of good info to help with my pickup, so when I couldn't get back to sleep last night, I took a shot at making a wiki page on Wikia.com and took a shot at rebuilding the FAQ. I found a version of it by using the Wayback Machine web archiver and copied out of that.

The site still actually exists at http://www.walkerdowney.com/ryanendres//isuzu/#faq6 , but I figure with personal sites it's only a matter of time before it would vanish again. So I made the wiki page, did as much reformatting as I had energy for and completed the index. Now if I understand it right, any of us can go in and edit to improve it. All the links that should go down to the answers or back to this site go to the web archive, I replaced a few here and there so if anyone is feeling like fixing that, go for it. Once you're in Edit Mode it's pretty easy. You can add pictures too. I'm just figuring this out, you'll probably catch onto quicker and do more with it.

Here it is, hope it's useful once again!

1998 Isuzu Rodeo V6, 2WD, Auto Maintanence FAQs

1) I was getting CEL P0134 intermittently and only when the A/C is running and the vehicle is stationary. The CEL goes away typically after driving 18 miles, sometimes after driving 4-5 miles. After taking look at the passenger side firewall under the Engine compartment, I saw the Evaporator drain hose dripping condensation (water) on the exhaust manifold and splashing some water to Band 1, Sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor (O2 Sensor). After adding an extension to the drain hose with a flexible rubber hose, the problem disappeared.
P0134 - 02 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank I Sensor 1)

2) Hard starting on a cold start or after vehicle had been parked for few hours. The Fuel pump check valve has gone bad the fuel is draining back to the fuel tank and hence it takes sometime for the fuel pressure to develop, which is causing the extended cranking to start. Added a BMW part ($18) after the fuel filter and it has been 6 years (60K miles) didnt have the issue at all. Below is the information on how and what to order.

fuel line check valve for a BMW 1990 735 iL

http://www.bmaparts.com BMA Parts 1-888-262-3911

part number 16 14 9 068 988

about $18.00 shipped

3) Remove ABS Fuse/Relay in Fuse box inside the Engine Compartment before bleeding brakes, otherwise ABS control module will surely get damaage

4) St Charles Isuzu is no longer selling Isuzu parts, use http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com (Select Passport) and order parts, http://www.rockauto.com is a very site for parts as well

5) Engine surging on cold start in winter or on extreme temperature changes, change Idle Air Control Valve (IAC)

6) If you know the Isuzu part#, search ebay, I could find genuine Isuzu Alternator for $100, ABS Control Module for $80, much better price than after market, plus it is a genuine part.

I have a 2001 Rodeo 3.2 V6 4wd LS model and just shattered the back windshield (back glass) I have found numerous replacements for both rodeos and passports but I need to know which yr models/makes are correct fit for mine. I have the undermounted spare tire and yes I did have the defrost wires built-in to the glass...but I'm not even worrying about that part...just want to know which years/models would be a correct fit as the price varies by hundreds of dollars. THANK YOU!

I just bought, via auction, a 1996 Isuzu Trooper, 4WD, manual, V6. Its got 160K miles on it. Ive got no history on the car. Im in CA and its never been registered here so the first task has been to get smogged CA license plate ready.

By the time I pick it up from the mechanic tomorrow, I will have:
put new tires on it
put new brakes on it
changed the timing belt because who knows when that was done
changed the drive belts, fluids, and oil filter
put in a new battery and alternerator

Ive got put a new windshield in it the current one is cracked and then the repair/replace/add on options start to get more discretionary, I think. Anything else you all think I should do as a part of the first round of maintenance?

This car is going to be a weekend camping car, off road to get to fishing spots but nothing to strenuous. The occasional city driving as a back-up to our Subaru. I appreciate any suggestions and advice.

thanks,
:mw

What kind of engine oil should I use in my 95 rodeo 3.2 v6 with 188k miles. Also leaks oil, coolant and transmission fluid. Any helpful hints on where to find the source of the leaks? I know it is a common issue.
Welcome aboard. I can't answer your questions, but i can offer a tip on posting. I'm guessing you're new to this.

Create a "New topic" in the appropriate section (my suggestion would be the one with "drive train" in it). Use a Subject line that fits your questions. The Subject line here is "Late Model Isuzu FAQ" and that's not what you're asking about.

I tried to go to the link provided and I either get redirected to a bogus site asking me to turn on notifications, or to an empty website.

The notification I received is almost definitely a scam. It's almost impossible anyone would be able to tell if you've got a virus from a notification.

These kinds of scams are common.
If you want to know how they work, you can check out a youtube channel by the name Jim Browning.

Would it be possible to get this post deleted? Whatever information may have g been available previously is no longer there, and I think it would be best for the safety of the community to remove this post altogether.

PLEASE DO NOT CLICK THE LINK!!!

PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW NOTIFICATIONS!!!

THIS IS A SCAM!!!
